The proposed law aims to expand the application of alternative penalties, increase the categories of individuals benefiting from them, and align with the principles of restorative justice and conciliatory justice, which will contribute to rehabilitating offenders and reintegrating them into society while reducing recidivism.
The draft law also includes provisions to introduce cases where the execution of sentences can be suspended after the ruling becomes final, and grants the execution judge the authority to defer or divide the payment of fines. This is expected to alleviate the burden on individuals convicted of minor offenses and reduce overcrowding in correctional and rehabilitation centers.
Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the justifications for a draft law amending the Sharia Execution Law of 2025, which will also be sent to the Department of Legislation and Opinion to complete the necessary procedures for its issuance.
The aim of this draft law is to simplify the procedures for enforcing Sharia rulings, expedite the delivery of rights to their rightful owners in the easiest possible way, and improve the methods of Sharia enforcement, especially in dealing with convicted individuals.
