This was emphasized during a meeting held on Thursday at the Ministry of Public Works, attended by Minister of Public Works Eng. Maher Abu Al-Samen, Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya, and Minister of Transport Eng. Wissam Al-Tahtamouni. The meeting was a continuation of previous discussions and field visits to monitor progress in implementing comprehensive development plans for border centers.

The ministers reviewed the latest updates on the master plan for developing Jaber and Karama border crossings, as well as the procedures for launching the tender for the new inbound cargo yard at Jaber Border Crossing, which will cover 65 dunams. This project aims to enhance the efficiency of inbound cargo services and streamline operations.

Also present at the meeting were Dr. Jamal Qutaishat, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Public Works, and Mohammad Al-Qaryouti, Acting Director-General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission. The discussions focused on the importance of inter-agency coordination to develop a comprehensive vision that ensures long-term sustainability in border crossing infrastructure.

The three ministers stressed the need to modernize all border crossings to reflect Jordan’s status and reputation while ensuring best practices in serving visitors, facilitating regional trade, and enhancing the efficiency of transit operations through Jordan.

The government's development strategy aims to align border crossings with global standards, strengthen security and customs procedures, and improve the movement of cargo and passengers. This includes a long-term vision that considers future growth in Jordan and neighboring countries.
