According to the published draft, the fees for work permits will be reduced by 30% across all categories.

The draft stipulates a reduction in the work permit fee from 2,150 JOD to 1,500 JOD, as specified in item (1) of Article (2), paragraph (C) of the original system. Additionally, the fee in item (2) will be reduced from 1,250 JOD to 875 JOD, and the fee in item (3) will be reduced from 645 JOD to 450 JOD.

The draft also proposes amending paragraph (A) of Article (3) of the original system by replacing the phrase "to be collected from the employer" with "to be collected by the Ministry of Labor."

Article (4) of the draft amendment proposes changes to Article (5) of the original system by replacing the term "the ministry" with "the Ministry of Labor," and adding a new paragraph (B), which introduces a 50 JOD fee for multiple-entry exit and re-entry permits.

The draft amendment further removes paragraph (B) of Article (6) in the original system, replacing it with the following: "Exemptions from paragraph (A) of this article include those who are exempt from paying work permit fees and additional amounts according to applicable legislation or under agreements that the Kingdom is a party to, or according to decisions made by the Cabinet."

The Cabinet had approved the reasons for amending the Work Permits Fee System during its session held on March 25.

The purpose of this proposed amendment is to reduce the burdens on employers and encourage skilled non-Jordanian workers to comply with labor law provisions by issuing work permits for them. This will help reduce the presence of illegal labor in the country.

Additionally, the amendment aims to regulate the labor market, promote investment by allowing all sectors to issue work permits for skilled workers with set fees for specific periods.
