AMMAN — The government has agreed to purchase the
Risha power plant for JD550,000, with the goal of saving more than JD2 million per year, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra.

According to a statement by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Thursday, the ministry began studying all options presented after the agreement with the Central Electricity Generating Company, the owner of the Risha power plant, expired, resulting in a "temporary stop" of gas produced from the Risha field.
The agreement covers the acquisition of two on-site gas turbines as well as administrative buildings, the minister added.
