AMMAN – Local revenues increased during the
first eight months of 2023 to reach JD5807 million, an increase of 387.6
million dinars compared to the same period in the previous year, according to
Al Mamlaka.

This increase, according to a statement from
the
Ministry of Finance, is a result of an increase in tax revenues by
approximately 177.6 million dinars and an increase in non-tax revenues by
around 210 million dinars.
The increase in tax revenues is due to an
increase in income tax and profits tax revenues of 215.9 million dinars, due to
improved
taxpayer compliance in submitting tax returns without raising tax
rates.
On the general expenditure front, the total
expenditure for the central government/budget during the first eight months of
2023 amounted to approximately 7032.2 million dinars, compared to 6836 million
dinars during the same period of the previous year, due to an increase in
current expenditures of 378.7 million dinars compared to the same period of the
previous year.
