AMMAN —
The government’s general revenues rose to about JD7.325 billion in 2021,
figures released Wednesday by the Ministry of Finance show, with actual
collection rate rising by 100.4 percent, according to the Jordan News Agency,
Petra.

Revenues last year
grew by JD1.087 billion over 2020, figures show, a growth attributed by the
ministry to the JD668.3 million increase in tax revenues, and JD418.5 million
in non-tax revenues. At the same time, public expenditures increased by JD647.4
million in 2021, reaching a total of JD9.859 billion, a 7 percent increase over
2020.
The rise was
driven by a JD315.4 million increase in capital expenditures compared to 2020.
The ministry was
able to reduce the budget deficit by JD451.9 million compared to 2020, and by
JD239.7 million compared to the deficit estimated in the general budget law for
the fiscal year 2021.
