At a meeting with the syndicate’s acting president, Yanal
Al-Barmawi, and members of its council, Dudin cited the fact that the
membership base, around 1,300 registered member, of JPA is smaller than other
professional associations and that might be a reason why the polls can be
conducted.
The unions are barred from holding their elections for
public health concerns related to
COVID-19.
The minister discussed with the press leaders “the
importance of communication and consultation with the JPA and the challenges
facing the media sector and ways to overcome them in the next stage”.
Barmawi pointed out the need for journalists to have access
to information and the importance of training for fresh graduates of journalism
schools.
