Amman Governor Yasser Al-Adwan, who issued the ban, told Al-Ghad News that, because the teachers syndicate had been dissolved and is therefore not a legitimate entity, they had no basis for holding a meeting at the complex.
Nawasrah contended that while the governor had informed him of this ban in person, Adwan allegedly refused to justify the decision. Furthermore, he said the governor had refused to provide written documentation for the ban, and that the association’s meeting will be postponed until further notice.
The teachers syndicate vice president called the decision a “suppression of freedoms”, asking whether “every event at the (complex) requires approval”.
