AMMAN —
Secretary-General of the
Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply Dana Al-Zoubi
said there has been a decline in the prices of basic commodities in Jordan,
starting with June, according to a local news outlet.

She said Sunday
that the ministry monitors prices in the markets on daily basis and submits a
weekly report, following up on the latest price developments, to decision
makers.
Zoubi said that the
prices of various kinds of oil have decreased significantly in Jordan,
indicating that this reduces costs for local restaurants that do not pay income
and sales tax.
She added that
there will be another drop in prices next month, unless global conditions
dictate otherwise.
Zoubi said that
commodities whose prices are low in the local market include rice, sugar, oils
and red meat, and stressed that the rise in global prices was not directly
reflected on the local market.
