The Licensing Department urged citizens to take advantage of the exemptions granted before the deadline specified in the decision, which ends at the end of December. This is intended to ease the financial burden on citizens and ensure the readiness and safety of vehicles and their users.
The Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department also mentioned that, starting Sunday next week, it will launch a fully equipped mobile licensing station in the areas of the Badia (desert regions) and its northern, southern, and central jurisdictions. This is in response to the citizens' needs in the Badia to benefit from the decision and licensing services. The mobile station will offer services such as vehicle inspection, license renewal, and payment of fees.
The Licensing Department encouraged citizens to follow the official pages of the Public Security Directorate and its websites to learn about the working hours and locations of mobile licensing stations, including those operating outside regular working hours.
Last Tuesday, the Cabinet announced its decision to exempt vehicles with expired licenses for several years from the additional fees (fines) due on them, with a deadline of December 31. The decision also includes exempting vehicles that have been unlicensed for over a year from the acquisition fees for previous years and any applicable re-registration fees.
The decision aims to reduce the financial burdens on citizens who own vehicles with expired licenses, facilitate the registration and licensing procedures for those whose vehicles have been unlicensed for several years, and enhance road safety and public welfare.
