Amman - The Department of Facilities and Social Programs at the Greater Amman Municipality has launched its activities for the annual "16 Days to Combat Violence against Women" campaign, aligning with the nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness and combating violence against women.

Director of the Department, Ghaida Hadid, underscored the municipality's commitment to fostering sustainable development and advancing the goals outlined in the comprehensive national plan to address violence against women. She highlighted the importance of the campaign in drawing attention to women's rights and addressing societal challenges related to violence.
The campaign includes activities such as awareness lectures targeting local communities, specialized training courses for female municipal employees, and dialogue sessions aimed at examining the causes and impacts of violence, including its social, economic, health, and psychological ramifications. Additionally, the campaign seeks to encourage stakeholders to challenge discriminatory attitudes and practices against women.
The "16 Days" campaign is a global initiative observed annually from November 25 to December 10, coinciding with International Human Rights Day, to eliminate gender-based violence.
