AMMAN — The
Greater Irbid Municipality (GIM) has temporarily suspended all excavation work
carried out by the Yarmouk Water Company in the city, following reports of road
defects and landslides in some areas.

Al-Kofahi stated that the defects in the design and implementation of the
excavation work, which was conducted by the Yarmouk Water Company and the
Ministry of Water, have resulted in cracks and landslides in the public
infrastructure, according to Khaberni.
80 complaintsThe
municipality has closed the affected roads to prevent accidents and has
responded to over 80 complaints related to flooding on some ground floors in
residential buildings in the eastern neighborhood of Irbid and other areas.
He stressed
that the municipality's emergency teams are ready to deal with emergencies.
Kofahi also
reported that some roundabouts in Irbid have been affected by landslides, which
have caused water levels to rise. The delay in issuing tenders for maintenance
work has resulted in the emergence of defects in some streets, which were
exposed during recent rains.
The mayor
called on individuals to exercise caution when driving in the affected areas and
urged the relevant authorities to address the issue promptly.
