AMMAN — Celebrating the
World Autism Awareness Day,
which falls on April 2, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities (HCD) on Tuesday launched several activities under the slogan
"With Awareness Comes Change" at a public school in Karak, according
to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The ceremony was organized in cooperation with
Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Jordanian
Ministry of Education.
According to an HCD statement on Tuesday, the activities
included educational films highlighting the importance of inclusive education
to the lives of children diagnosed with autism.
Additionally, parents of disabled children shared their
stories and the effect on the youngsters' social and educational life due to
the disease.
At the end of the ceremony, the entire school was lit up in
blue, the accredited color for the occasion, in the presence of the mayor of
Karak.
Two more events will also be organized on Wednesday and
Thursday in two schools in Ajloun and Marka. The three schools were chosen out
of 18 as the ideal schools for disabled people under the 10-Year Strategy for
Inclusive Education (2019–2029).
