During the launch ceremony, Assistant
Secretary-General of the Council Rania Abadi said that the strategy aims at
providing, disseminating, and sharing knowledge related to sexual and
reproductive health for researchers, research bodies, decision and
policymakers, the media, program developers, and service providers.
She said that an analysis of the current status of
sexual and reproductive health communication shows the absence of a
communication strategy and policies, excluding the 2018–2022 population media
strategy, which tackled reproductive health and weak media programs. Other
issues that the analysis highlighted include lack of investment in developing
effective communication products and tools, lack of platforms and means of
communication, and lack of trained staff in communication and media.
Etaf Hadid, the council’s director of the Media and
Communication Unit, underlined that the strategy will provide a conceptual
framework that enables institutions and individuals to provide, disseminate,
and share knowledge related to sexual and reproductive health in innovative and
modern ways, despite differences in their style, purpose, and tools. The
strategy will also provide tools to rally support through the strategic use of
the media, in order to support related initiatives and activities.
The HPC’s technical director and main researcher
‘Ghaleb Azzeh’ reviewed Share-Net Jordan’s history, which became operational in
the Kingdom in early 2016. He said the platform aims at linking research,
policies, and practices through generating, sharing, translating, and promoting
the use of knowledge on its platform to develop better sexual and reproductive
health policies and practices.
