AMMAN — HRH
Prince El Hassan bin Talal, chairman of the
Board of Trustees of the
Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, participated
in the sixth colloquium between the Vatican Dicastery for Interreligious
Dialogue and the institute on the theme “Creative Commonalities between
Christianity and Islam”.

During the meeting,
Prince El Hassan emphasized the crucial
role in education and shared religious values in fortifying the foundations of
justice and peace, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He highlighted the significance of ensuring the dignity and
rights of all individuals as part of the endeavor to establish a new human
system where
people can mutually support one another.
Fostering trustAs part of these efforts, he advocated for the creation of a
platform for open discourse aimed at fostering trust and facilitating mutual
familiarity among individuals who reside and interact in culturally converging
regions.
An effort in which he believes will cultivate better
collaboration, comprehension, and problem solving amongst groups.
Pope Francis shared his appreciation and gratitude to His
Majesty King Abdullah for his attention to the
Christian communities in not
only the Kingdom, but in the region.
His holiness also thanked the prince for the contribution of
the
Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies in preserving and appreciating the
Arab Christian heritage.
Participants also thanked Prince El Hassan for his valuable
contributions to the symposium and a joint statement was released on the call
for respect for human dignity, and appreciating diversity and difference.
The symposium is the sixth series of meetings by Royal
Institute for Interfaith Studies and Vatican Dicastery for Interreligious
Dialogue since 2009. The colloquium is held alternatively every two years in
either Amman or Rome.
