AMMAN — On Tuesday,
HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali attended the
opening of the 7th annual International Conference for the
University of Jordan (UJ) Library. The conference, aptly titled "Libraries
in their Fourth Generation from a Practical Perspective," gathered scholars
and experts from around the world to discuss the evolving role of libraries in
the digital age.

During the ceremony,
UJ President Nazir Obeidat highlighted how the advent of artificial intelligence tools and their
widespread availability has propelled humanity closer to the future we have
long aspired for, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
Obeidat emphasized that the impact of
programming and technology in the realm of open networks is palpable,
significantly influencing various fields and sectors, particularly publishing
and libraries.
Obeidat expounded on the manifold benefits of
artificial intelligence in
scientific research and academic publication. With
AI's aid, scholars and researchers can navigate vast oceans of data, unlocking
new possibilities for discovery and knowledge dissemination.
Caution about the risks and challenges
Yet, amid the celebration of technological advancements,
the UJ President cautioned against the challenges and risks accompanying the
age of technology and
artificial intelligence. Issues such as privacy,
security, and digital ethics require unwavering attention, scrutiny, and
strategic thinking. Obeidat underscored that it is crucial to invest hard work
and enduring effort in developing effective preventive measures to safeguard
the
integrity and privacy of individuals in this digital era.
He further emphasized that embracing a

thrive in this interconnected world, individuals must also cultivate
