AMMAN — The Ministry of Water and Irrigation has announced that Jordan loses more than half of its water on its lands through water losses. اضافة اعلان

According to a ministry tweet on Thursday, more than half of the quantities of drinking water in Jordan are lost due to illegal uses, unauthorized water extraction, vandalism, and water leakage from the existing water networks.

The situation has prompted the ministry to outline its National Water Strategy for 2023–2040, which focuses on the integrated management of water resources to protect the water aquifers and surface water. This requires strict compliance and enforcement of all laws and regulations to preserve these precious water resources and their use.

The National Water Strategy also includes specific actions to address critical issues in the management of the water sector in Jordan. These include financial performance and sustainability, data-driven decision-making, innovation and technology, energy use, water efficiency, and climate change.
