Organized by the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM), the drill is designed to strengthen Jordan’s resilience in managing crises and emergencies, with wide-ranging involvement from government and private entities.
In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry highlighted that the exercise will evaluate the country’s crisis response capabilities through realistic and challenging scenarios, such as earthquakes and large-scale health emergencies.
The simulation will take place in various governorates, including Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Balqa, and Aqaba, focusing on testing the healthcare system’s preparedness and the coordination of multi-sectoral efforts.
The exercise will activate central and field operations centers within the Ministry, including the crisis directorate and health directorates in the targeted regions.
It will also assess the effectiveness of national emergency plans, such as the King Talal Dam risk management strategy, the framework for requesting and receiving international aid, and the coordinated earthquake response plan.
Activities will include evaluating hospital readiness, with a focus on emergency protocols, staffing levels, and the availability of critical medical supplies.
Simulated medical evacuations and patient distribution according to hospital capacity will also be conducted. Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) will play a key role in providing on-site support, while the Crisis Directorate has developed training programs to ensure the success of the exercise.
The drill will rely on close collaboration between the Health Ministry and the NCSCM, with support from other ministries, such as the Ministry of Social Development, to establish medical sites in camps, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies for hospitals.
