Adel Bilbeisi, the Health Ministry secretary-general for
epidemiology, stressed the importance of taking the booster, explaining that
immunity begins to wane after six months.
The third dose should be the same type as the first two
shots, Bilbeisi said, though clarifying that if those caused any complications,
the third dose can be exchanged for another type.
He said that there is no additional registration required to
receive the third dose, and that anybody who is eligible should go out a
vaccination site.
Last week, the National Anti-Pandemic Committee recommended
the third dose be given to those over 18 years old six months after their
second dose.
In late September, the ministry authorized the booster shot
for people older than 60 years old, the immunocompromised, and health workers.
