Amman - The Director General of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Nizar Mheidat Sunday said, "Jordan has not recorded any cases of drug counterfeiting."اضافة اعلان

During the opening of a dialogue seminar on the dangers of counterfeit medicines, Mheidat said FDA control and inspection staff are working in partnership with the Customs Department and security services to track and thwart attempts to introduce some materials for personal use in commercial quantities and seize them before they are in the market.

He added that the medicines in the Kingdom are "safe," noting the FDA's efforts to localise the pharmaceutical industries to enhance medicine availability at appropriate prices and the FDA's support for approaches in this regard from different partners.

While chairing a dialogue session on the sidelines of the symposium, Mheiodat recommended implementing a drug tracking system and creating a platform on the FDA's website to broadcast the most important instructions regarding drug security, safety and safety of medicine.

He urged strengthening the pharmaceutical staff working under the FDA to inspect drug consignments and increasing penalties against those who commit drug security issues.

The head of the Pharmacists Syndicate and Vice President of the Arab Pharmacists Union, Muhammad Ababneh, said counterfeit medicines "do not exist in Jordan, as the FDA was able in previous years to confront this."
