AMMAN —
Health Minister Dr.
Firas Al-Hawari underscored the
imperative need for international support to ensure the delivery of
high-quality healthcare services to both Jordan's citizens and refugees with
equity. He shed light on the myriad challenges confronting Jordan, stemming
from its humanitarian duty to host refugees for more than seven decades,
including the recent influx of
Syrian refugees.

The minister delineated eight
pivotal objectives designed to realize comprehensive healthcare coverage in the
forthcoming years. These objectives encompass strengthening the governance of
the healthcare sector, expanding the scope of essential
public health functions, promoting primary healthcare, elevating service quality, ensuring
financial sustainability, enhancing the healthcare workforce, establishing an
interconnected healthcare system, and involving the community in
health carepolicy formulation, Jo24 reported.
Hawari highlighted the collaborative
efforts undertaken in conjunction with national institutions and the
World Health Organization to develop a prioritized healthcare coverage package and to
facilitate financial planning. The
Ministry of Health is presently engaged in
crafting a healthcare financing strategy that aims to create a balanced,
equitable, and sustainable healthcare funding framework for achieving
comprehensive healthcare coverage.
