AMMAN — According to forecasts from the
Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), the heatwave in the Kingdom, which began
Wednesday, August 9, will continue throughout this week, and will peak on
Saturday. It will be most prominent in the Badia, the
Jordan Valley, the Dead
Sea, and
Aqaba.

Thursday is anticipated to usher in another day of relatively
high temperatures in the
elevated mountainous regions, while the remainder of
the country is poised to experience heightened heat levels, Jordan News Agency,
Petra reported.
As the week progresses, a
warm air mass originating from the
Arabian Peninsula is poised to exert its influence over the Kingdom, commencing
from Friday. The resultant effect will be a surge in temperature readings
across a spectrum of regions.
Saturday is projected to mark the zenith of the heat and
aridness associated with this air mass.
Maximum readings potentially surpassing
the seasonal norms by an approximate margin of 7-8°C. The overall climate is
expected to be exceedingly hot, particularly in the aforesaid locales.
In response to these conditions, authorities have issued a
stern caution regarding direct sun exposure during peak hours; and urged
residents to adopt preventive measures to
mitigate potential health risks associated with extreme heat.
