During a meeting with the Public Services and Transportation
Committee, Khalil stated that the foundation's goals include developing the
railway transportation system, putting the Hejaz Railway on the map of local
and global tourism, improving institutional performance, and utilizing
railway properties while preserving historical heritage by restoring heritage buildings
and stations, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
Based on preliminary planning, it is estimated that the
train would transport between 40,000 to 50,000 passengers daily.
Khalil noted that the
Hejaz Railway is financially
self-sufficient, generating its own money from investments and completed
projects.
Ghazi Al-Badawi, the committee’s chairman, highlighted the
importance of trains in Jordan’s transportation system and their role in
promoting domestic tourism. He stressed the need to upgrade the railway
infrastructure and construct carriages suitable for travel under various
conditions.
Furthermore, deputies Yazan Al-Shudeifat, Omar Al-Zyoud,
Haitham Zayadeen, and Obaid Al-Yasin stressed the importance of this
institution and the need to adopt strategies and programs to revitalize the
