He said there was large opposition to a visit to Hiroshima by Israel's ambassador in Tokyo to attend the annual A-bomb memorial ceremony last month, given Israel's "inhumane" actions in Gaza and Palestine, but added, "from my own point of view, I think the ambassador’s visit was an opportunity to convey the tragic aftermath of the war that he saw to his country."

Yamamato, who was a 14-year-old second-year student at Hiroshima Second Middle School the time, recalled the horrendous scene, adding he will never forget that even after decades.
He said he was with his classmates in a playground 2.5 kilometers from the site of the explosion, but all 321 first-year students and 4 teachers, who were in the school, died.
