Amman – The Financial Committee in the House of Representatives, chaired by Dr. Nimer Al-Sulayhat, discussed today, Thursday, the budget of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as part of the discussions on the draft general budget law for the fiscal year 2025. The meeting was attended by the Council's Secretary-General Dr. Muhannad Al-Izza, several council staff members, and a representative from the General Budget Department.

Al-Sulayhat stated that the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has been an effective national institution since 2007, working to support and integrate this important group into society.
The council also proposes policies and follows up on issues related to people with special needs.
He noted that the council's budget amounted to approximately 5.3 million Jordanian dinars, with a growth of 645,000 dinars, mostly in capital expenditures. He called for the financial committee to be kept informed about the financial allocations, their growth, the council's objectives, and what had been achieved in 2024 in terms of training and qualification of staff and the obstacles faced by the council.
For his part, Al-Izza confirmed the committee’s role in supporting and strengthening the council by increasing its financial allocations, which helped enhance its role and contributions to serving and supporting this important group in society.
He also mentioned the council’s tasks, activities, and programs, such as issuing comprehensive strategies for people with disabilities and reviewing them, providing technical support to institutions for implementing various programs, offering training courses for all staff, and following up on any incidents of violence against these individuals and notifying the relevant authorities to take appropriate action.
The members of parliament praised the role of the council as a specialized and effective national institution in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities in all aspects of life.
Al-Izza responded to inquiries from the deputies, which focused on some budget items, the increase in allocations for this year, and various capital expenditures.
