AMMAN—Agriculture Minister Khaled Huneifat said that his ministry has taken several measures to boost food security included reaching out new markets to import livestock to broaden choices for importers to buy with reasonable prices, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He told Petra that the ministry sought to enhance the strategic reserve of plant and animal foodstuffs, in accordance with national priorities aiming at cementing food security and reducing imported agro products' prices, namely, during the holy month of Ramadan.
Huneifat indicated that in order to strengthen the partnership with the private sector, the ministry held series of meetings with the Foodstuff Traders Association to remove all obstacles facing the flow of agricultural and food commodities.
During the meetings the ministry decided, in coordination with the association, to abolish import permits for about 80 products, and cancelled many import conditions for about 120 additional commodities, the minister added.
