AMMAN — The secretary-general of the Islamic Action Front (IAF) Party Murad Al-Adaileh said that it is not possible to achieve an effective partisan and political life without providing an atmosphere for political freedoms.اضافة اعلان

He said that this must include lifting the security grip on civil and political life and suspend restrictions on political parties, professional associations, and civil society institutions, adding that only this will encourage people to join political parties.

Speaking at an event organized by the Supporters of Virtue Society on the output of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System on Tuesday, Adaileh said: “What is the message that the authorities are sending by arresting Jordanian youth and university students who have expressed their rejection of normalization and of the energy-for-water agreement that affects the security and stability of the country.”

On the proposed constitutional amendments, Adaileh said the government’s proposed amendments represent a change in the shape of the political system in Jordan from a parliamentary monarchy to an absolute monarchy and by making the King the face of the executive authority in a way that does not serve the interests of the political system, while undermining the general mandate of the government.

He called on the Lower House to reject these amendments to ensure national stability.
