Irbid- Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Mohammad Shouha, and South Africa Ambassador to Jordan, Selina Mokwena, discussed on Wednesday ways to develop bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

During the meeting, Shouha stressed the need to enhance mutual trade exchange, provide the necessary facilitations to increase its volume and secure the opportunity for the private sector to deepen trade relations.
Shouha pointed out the importance of establishing Jordanian-S. African trade projects and benefiting from agreements that allow export of Jordanian products without customs duties.
Shouha said the value of Jordan's exports to South Africa amounted to about $27 million during the past year, compared to imports worth $40 million.
In this regard, he added that chemical industries, textile materials, appliances, metals and food are the Kingdom's key exports to the South African market.
For her part, the envoy stressed the two countries' shared positions on the Gaza issue, praising Jordan's positions in alleviating suffering of the Palestinian people by sending food and medical aid and field hospitals.
The diplomat also noted the importance of expanding knowledge and trade exchange with Jordan, pointing to the available investment opportunities and cooperation mechanisms among the two countries' businesspeople in economic and investment areas.
Mokwena stressed her country's keenness to strengthen economic and trade relations with the Kingdom and benefit from Jordan's business environment, hoping to increase trade exchange, enhance exchange of expertise, transfer of technology and training, in addition to establishing investments in various sectors.
