AMMAN —The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on
Friday that its executive board has approved a $206 million loan to Jordan to
help the Kingdom face the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The loan also aims to assist Jordan in its hosting of 1.3
million Syrian refugees, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The IMF said in a statement that the "total amount
disbursed by the fund to Jordan since the beginning of 2020 amounts to about
$900 million", including $396 million in emergency assistance that Jordan
received in May 2020 under the "Rapid Financing Instrument”.
