AMMAN – The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) called on all taxpayers to submit income tax returns for their income earned during the fiscal year 2023 electronically and pay the amounts declared therein by electronic payment methods, Al-Ghad reported.اضافة اعلان

The department stressed the need to fill out these returns with correct and realistic information that reflects their income earned during the past year. It was noted that the submission of returns is done electronically through the department’s website, www.istd.gov.jo, for all categories of taxpayers, employees, individuals, companies, and development areas, by logging into the department’s website and choosing the electronic services icon.

It pointed out that employees and users are obliged to submit an income tax return if their annual gross income from all sources of income or from business activities, including salaries and wages, exceeds JD9,000 for non-guarantors and JD18,000 for guarantors.

The ISTD explained that deducting income tax from salaries and wages monthly from the employer does not exempt its owners from those whose annual income exceeds the exemption limit from submitting income tax returns.

The department confirmed to the owners and managers of companies and establishments, as well as individuals obliged by the national electronic billing system, the need to make sure that their financial managers, accountants, or commissioners register these companies, establishments, and individuals’ activities with the national electronic billing system and issue invoices originally through the system or through the electronic link with the national electronic billing system. In the event that they have not registered yet with the national electronic billing system, they must urge them to quickly register in the system and adjust their status to the system’s requirements as soon as possible to avoid legal accountability and exposure to legal fines.

The department indicated that the submission of returns and registration with the National Electronic Invoicing System are done electronically through the department’s website, www.istd.gov.jo. The department also indicated that taxpayers can communicate with the taxpayer services center in the department through the phone, WhatsApp, or various social media sites to receive the required assistance, answer their inquiries and comments, help them with the procedures of their transactions electronically, and respond to them in the shortest possible time.
