The minister stressed the strong ties between the two countries in the several fields, which, he said, should reflect on the level of bilateral economic cooperation.
Shamali said work is continuing to remove barriers to intra-industry trade, to maximize the benefit from available opportunities, and stimulate the two countries’ private sector to launch more economic partnerships.
In addition, work is also ongoing to follow up on the implementation of the outputs of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, which held its ninth session in Amman in March under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly.
Shamali pointed to ongoing efforts to enhance economic relations through tripartite cooperation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, and the implementation of the outcomes of tripartite summits that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah II, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi. He also pointed to efforts toward economic integration in several fields.
For his part, the Egyptian envoy said his country is interested in raising the level of economic relations with Jordan in various fields, increasing trade volumes, stimulating the private sector in both countries, and launching more investments toward integration. The volume of trade between Jordan and Egypt stood at about $718 million last year.
