Warning against failing to comply with the poultry price caps, he affirmed the ministry will refer any violators to the judiciary.
The market teams will intensify monitoring campaigns countrywide and follow up on stakeholders' commitment to the newly-announced price ceilings, he said in a press statement Thursday.
To date, he noted the ministry tracked some irregularities related to delivering fresh and plucker chicken meat, adding that this is a "clear" violation of the provisions of the Industry and Commerce Law, which bans selling products at a price higher than the set price tag.
The ministry, he noted, will take "stiffer" penalties against violators, which range from financial fines to jail.
The monitoring teams will step up sales invoices and take measures against flouters, and will not allow any irregularities aimed to tamper with citizens' foodstuffs or exaggerate goods prices, according to Shamali.
To help counter market distortions, he noted the
ministry called for reporting any violations related to price ceilings for poultry and other commodities.
