AMMAN — An inmate who escaped from Swaqa
Correctional and Rehabilitation Center was recaptured on Tuesday, a
spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said, according to the Jordan
News Agency, Petra.

The convict, who was not named, was back in custody
after intensive efforts by police personnel who began tracking him immediately
after he fled the facility in southern Jordan, said the spokesperson, who was
not identified.
The man was questioned about the circumstances of
his escape, according to the spokesperson, who added that legal action will be
taken against him and those who provided him sanctuary.
The spokesperson said that a judicial investigation
team will further hear from the inmate to determine what went wrong and led to
the jail break and bring those responsible to account.
