In a speech at Sunday’s opening of a training course
organized by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Rashaideh said that the food
control and monitoring systems in Jordan depend on the type of facility where
food items are produced, as well as the type and quantity of food.
Rashaideh explained that raising awareness regarding
the methods of ensuring the safety of food, whether through knowledge or
practical experience at all stages of food handling, is a common goal of JFDA,
and the parties which share similar responsibilities, including the chambers of
commerce.
He pointed out that JFDA’s priority is to ensure
that safe food and medicines are provided to the citizens of Jordan. He said
this is why the administration uses advanced quality control methods and
updated approaches that focus on keeping food safe and educating those in
charge of food establishments on the best practices when handling food.
Rashaideh said that the four-day event offered by
ACC includes courses organized by the Food Directorate, in cooperation with the
private sector, to raise the level of awareness of workers in the field,
increase food-handling knowledge regarding the health requirements, and ensure
the consumers’ safety.
