President of the Truck Owners Syndicate Nael
Al-Thiabat said on Wednesday that the agreement, which was reached at the
beginning of this year, will expire at the end of next month, and that talk
about “extending or renewing the agreement is on the table”.
He added that about 10,000 barrels of oil arrive in
the Kingdom daily from the Kirkuk refinery, transported by 500 oil tankers;
340,000 barrels arrived in Jordan last month.
Thiabat also praised the level of coordination and cooperation
between the Jordanian and Iraqi governments, and their keenness to overcome the
obstacles drivers of oil tankers face.
The two countries concluded an agreement two years
ago whereby Jordan is supplied with about 3.7 million barrels of oil, representing
7 percent of its oil needs.
