AMMAN — Iraqi Interior Minister
Abdul-Amir Shammari stressed the importance of enhancing joint security
cooperation between
Jordan and Iraq during a meeting in Baghdad on Thursday
with a Jordanian media delegation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

While speaking with the delegation, which
is visiting Baghdad at the official invitation of the Iraqi Journalists
Syndicate (IJS), Shammari highlighted Jordan's "pivotal" role and its
keenness on continuous coordination with Iraq to control border crossings,
prevent smuggling operations, and eliminate hotbeds of terrorism.
The minister also highlighted Iraq's
"remarkable" expertise in the field of combating terrorism, and
mentioned means of strengthening cooperation with Jordan in military, security,
and border training.
He stressed the importance of forming a
joint
media committee, given the media's role in highlighting efforts and
achievements of various institutions.
For his part, Jordanian ambassador to Iraq
Muntaser Oqla affirmed the "deep-rooted"
bilateral relations, mentioning the continual efforts to reach the highest cooperation levels
between the two countries' authorities.
IJS Head and President of the Federation of
Arab Journalists (FAJ) Moayad Lami highlighted the ongoing joint communication
to create opportunities to network with Jordan's media institutions and
exchange expertise.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian delegation
stressed His Majesty King Abdullah's continued keenness to enhance bilateral
ties with Iraq.
