AMMAN — The 2021 value of receivables of
Irbid Electricity Company (Irbid, Jerash, Ajloun, Mafraq) from domestic
subscribers amounted to about JD31.32 million, compared to JD31.9 million in
2020, according to the company’s annual data, released on Monday.

The number of subscribers in the household sector in
2020 reached about 506,000, making up 87 percent of total subscriptions with
the company.
The data stated that the total receivables of all
subscribed sectors at the end of 2021 amounted to about JD131.5 million, an
increase of 29 percent.
The highest value of receivables came from
subscribers of water pumps, with the value of unpaid and accumulated bills
until the end of 2021 amounted to about JD42.4 million, in addition to receivables
of non-domestic subscribers and government departments at a value of JD12.8
million.
The unpaid electricity bills for industrial
subscribers (small and medium) to the Irbid Electricity Company amounted to
JD5.1 million, compared to JD4.6 million.
The accumulated electricity bills on the
agricultural sector in northern Jordan reached JD2.8 million at the end of
2021, compared to approximately JD2.6 million.
Irbid Electricity Company’s achieved profits in 2021
amounted to JD6.9 million, compared to JD7.76 million in 2020, a decrease of 11
percent.
According to the company’s 2020 annual report, the
number of cases filed by the company against third parties in 2020 amounted to
151 cases, in addition to 87 ongoing cases from previous years; the cases are
related to interference in electricity meters, returned checks, colliding
columns, and financial claims instead of receivables for electricity
bills. Additionally, 2020 recorded more
than 3,000 cases of tampering with meters.
One of the most important objectives of the company
is to distribute electrical energy in retail to consumers under the license
obtained on June 30, 2008 and valid for 25 years from that date.
The company’s general assembly decided in its extraordinary
meeting on August 25, 2021, to increase the company’s capital by JD2 million
through capitalizing the balance of retained earnings, whereby the company’s
capital increases to JD10 million.
