Irbid Olive Oil Production Increases by 20 Percent, Quality Boosted by Favorable Climate

Abu Arabi noted that only half of the olive crop has been harvested so far, as many farmers are deliberately delaying the harvest to enhance the oil content. He explained that the current peak production phase has resulted in abundant supply and price stability, with the price of a can of olive oil expected to remain between JD100 and JD110 by next month.

The director attributed the improved quality and quantity of olive oil production to favorable weather conditions, including abundant rainfall and a moderate climate, which have positively influenced market dynamics. He also highlighted that Irbid’s olive presses are receiving produce from neighboring governorates for direct marketing, reflecting the region's central role in the olive oil trade.

Abu Arabi encouraged farmers to prune their trees and apply fertilizers to further enhance productivity in future seasons. He reiterated that only 50 percent of the olive crop has been harvested so far, as many farmers are waiting to maximize the yield of extracted oil.
