GIM Mayor Nabel Al-Kofhi said on Monday that the
council, in a session last Wednesday, took the decision to allocate 10 dunums
of the municipal land in Al-Sareeh area, on the road between the vehicles
licensing department and the Martyr Azmi Al-Mufti camp.
The municipality stipulates that the project of
building the center has to be completed within three years, otherwise the
ownership of the land will be returned to the municipality, Kofahi pointed out.
Kofhi stressed that the allocation of this plot of
land came after studying the most appropriate sites that can serve all the
people of the northern governorates and can be easily accessed.
He said that, according
to that the statistics of the National Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and
Genetics (NCDEG), more than 60 percent of its patients are from the northern
governorates, which calls for the establishment of a center in the region that
serves citizens and relieves pressure on the main center in Amman.
