Key initiatives undertaken by the municipality
include a primary focus on the completion of road maintenance and paving. This
proactive approach ensures that the city's road infrastructure is adequately
prepared for future planning and development, Jo24 reported.
Enhance accessibility for
individuals with disabilities
In a bid to enhance accessibility for
individuals with disabilities, Kofahi revealed that the municipality has forged
an agreement with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities. This collaborative effort is designed to kickstart the
implementation of specialized pathways, facilitating the mobility of
individuals with disabilities. The initial phase of this project will center
around areas in close proximity to Yarmouk University.
Furthermore, the municipality has meticulously
devised plans for crucial intersections and designated pedestrian pathways,
adhering to approved specifications. Currently, the municipality is in the
process of soliciting bids for the planning of most major intersections and
main thoroughfares within the city. These plans incorporate the use of
hot-colored markings, aligning with higher standards and offering extended
durability, in accordance with specifications outlined by the Ministry of
Public Works for street painting.
To raise awareness and inform the public about
the new traffic law's critical provisions, Dr. Al-Kofahi noted that the
municipality has already initiated improvements to directional signs throughout
the city.
