Irish minister for children visits Zaatari refugee camp

AMMAN — The Irish Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth Roderic O'Gorman on Sunday visited  Zaatari refugee camp for and observed services offered to refugees, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

The meeting, attended by Irish Ambassador to Jordan Vincent O’Neill and the accompanying delegation, included a briefing about the camp's green projects such as solar power, waste management, and recycling projects provided for refugee communities.

On his two-day visit to Jordan, the minister also visited the UNHCR Refugee Registration Center in Amman and received an overview on the center's work. He also met with Irish Refugee Protection Program officials and a refugee family to be resettled in Ireland.

Earlier on Sunday, O'Gorman met separately with Minister of Social Development Ayman Al-Mufleh and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh, and discussed areas of bilateral cooperation.
He later launched the "Green Embassy Initiative" at the Irish Chancery, and planted a tree to commemorate the occasion.
