AMMAN — Head of the
Bar Association Mazen Irshaidat
called on the government to do away with all defense orders, indicating that by
keeping the Defense Law in effect the government has trespassed on the
Constitution, according to JO24.

Irshaidat said that there is no country in the world which
implements a defense law for more than six months, while it might be extended
for three months maximum if necessary.
He also pointed out that applying the defense orders
contradicts the Constitution, and that there are defense orders which go
against the Constitution yet the government persists in implementing them,
adding that most of the neighboring countries are not implementing any
defense orders and Jordan has become an exception in this matter.
