AMMAN — The Islamic Action Front (IAF), a Jordanian political party, voiced their concern over the results of a poll published by the International Republican Institute, which was conducted in Jordan. اضافة اعلان

According to the Amman Net website, the poll indicated statistics of the youth’s inclination to immigrate from Jordan, their mistrust in the political parties, and favoring the municipal elections over the parliamentary elections.

The poll’s results showed that around 45 percent of youth are seriously considering immigrating to other countries to guarantee their future and enhance their living quality, while only 35 percent believe that they could build a promising future in Jordan.

The IAF shred that these results are alarming as they indicate the youth’s frustration from the failure of the political, economic, and social approaches in the succeeding governments in Jordan.

The party added that the results also reveal a prevalence of nepotism, administrative and financial corruption, and it marginalizes the competence, justice, and equivalence of available jobs among Jordanians.

Democracy index report

The Democracy index report for the year 2020 was issued by the Economist Group for research and analysis, indicating that Jordan has fallen to rank 118 out of 167 countries around the globe in the democracy indicators.

In this regard, the IAF stressed the importance of changing the official status quo in the administrations of various institutions around Jordan.
According to the report, Jordan’s classification was due to its performance in several criteria relating to political life and freedoms.

On a scale of 10, Jordan has scored 2.67 points in terms of the election process and political variety, 3.93 points on the government’s performance indicator, 3.89 points in the political participation indicator, and 4.38 points on the political environment and culture indicator.

Lastly, Jordan scored 3.24 points on the civil freedom indicator.
According to the political party, these scores indicate the gap between official statements of reform and freedoms and their reality on the ground.
The IAF also shared that the results regarding immigration and democracy further stress the political, economic, and social crisis which Jordan is going through.

They also highlight the importance of decision-makers realizing that procrastination in achieving a comprehensive and aspired reform will significantly negatively impact the Kingdom and the Jordanian people.

UNRWA’s workers

The IAF stressed its rejection of the strict measures which the UNRWA took to force its employees to take exceptional unpaid leaves. This decision suspends the relief agency’s services on purpose and deprives Palestinian refugees of medical and educational services.

They also stressed that Arab governments must intervene along the international community to prevent using the funding — which goes to the relief agency’s activities — for political blackmailing purposes.

They also stated that Arab governments should support the relief agency, prevent the projects which aim at closing it — as a part of a scheme to abolish the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homeland.
