Practical procedures for the two party merger aim at
contributing to the strengthening and empowerment of national parties by
creating a democratic national party model that meets the aspirations of the
Jordanian people especially in the coming phase, which includes the formation
of parliamentary governments.
Secretary General of the Islamic Center Party
Mustafa Amawi said that through this merger, “we seek to launch an active
national party that is capable of reflecting the interests, priorities and
concerns of society within a viable program, in order for us to reach the formation
of a hard-core, representative bloc as an essential element in the successful
transition to the desired parliamentary governments.”
Amawi asserted that citizenship is the foundation
that brings Jordanians together. Secretary General of the National Coalition
Party, Raheel Gharaibieh, said that the next phase requires strong and
effective parties capable of adopting the programs emanating from reality, the
ability to diagnose problems, and the development of alternatives and solutions
with expertise and competence.
Gharaibieh added that the merger will contribute to
the formulation of a different party scene and a different new phase.
The two parties had held two separate
meetings before the merger was announced, during which individual party members
voted in favor of the merger.
