AMMAN — The Italian Language International Week, organized by the
Faculty of Foreign Languages at the
University of Jordan (UJ), has kicked off
this week, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Attending the event were Ambassador of Italy to Jordan Luciano Pezzotti, and
Deputy Head of Mission, and Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland
in Jordan Caroline Tissot.
UJ President
Nathir Obeidat praised the academic and cultural cooperation with
the Italian Embassy, and its continuous support to the Italian language
program, pointing to the importance of this event and its role in enriching students'
culture and knowledge.
The Italian ambassador commended UJ for hosting the first day of this cultural
event on Tuesday.
"Language is a mean of communication and rapprochement with others,"
Pezzotti said.
He expressed appreciation for the students who chose to learn Italian, which shows
their openness to and appreciation for the Italian culture.
Tissot lauded the university students' eagerness to learn Italian, which is one
of Switzerland’s official national languages.
Dean of the UJ Faculty of Foreign Languages Nahed Omaish said that nearly 300
students enrolled in the Italian language department, studying Italian language
and literature.
