AMMAN — Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereni on Thursday met Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez, as well as members from the Senate’s Arab and Foreign Affairs Committee, for talks that went over the importance of bolstering bilateral ties and implementing agreements in service of common interests.اضافة اعلان

Following her meeting with Fayez, Sereni toured a number of Zaatari refugee camp projects, financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and implemented by the UNHCR, UN Women and World Food Program.

At Zaatari, the minister received a briefing on the progress of cooperation between Italy and the UNHCR in Jordan over the past five years — valued at an estimated $8.5 million — in addition to the 1.5-million-dollar multipurpose cash-assistance program, which targets vulnerable households that have been among the most affected by the repercussions of COVID-19.

“I believe that the role played in the various projects by the actors of the Italian Cooperation and Jordanian organized civil society is fundamental. Their efforts are vital to support the growth and change of the country for the benefit of the neediest components of the population,” Sereni said.
