AMMAN —
Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat announced Thursday that JD15 million has
been allocated to support and develop Wala Agricultural Station over a course
of four years, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The announcement
came during the inspection of the Cyprus Goat Breeding Project at the Wala station,
in Madaba, which includes a herd of 187 breeding at the station to improve milk
production.
Hneifat also
followed up on a hydroponic project being constructed at a cost of $600,000 in
Al-Mujib Dam area.
Eighty agreements
were signed with 80 farmers, 30 percent of whom were women, who will receive
assistance through a $4,000 grant by the Food and Agriculture Organization to
undertake pilot projects in agro-food industries.
Hneifat noted the
importance of such agreements, of which there are 300 nationwide, for women’s
empowerment and food security.
