The estimated support within the budget for
the coming year for a household gas cylinder is approximately JD62.5 million,
with a projected increase to JD125 million in 2025. Notably, the government did
not allocate any funds for
domestic gas support in the budgets for 2022 or
2023.
On the other hand, the government has reduced
its estimates for the allocation of support to strategic food commodities in
the draft budget for the next year by JD31 million, reaching JD226 million
compared to the re-estimated JD257 million in the 2023 budget.
This support for strategic food commodities
and
domestic gas is part of the Ministry of Finance's social safety net
program. Wheat and fodder support were not included in the draft budget for the
coming year, after allocating JD60 million for this item in the 2022 budget.
The government also allocated JD10 million for
supporting oil derivatives within the capital projects' allocations under the
Ministry of Finance. There were no amounts recorded for this item in the
current year's budget, with an expected increase to JD39 million in 2025.
