AMMAN— The
Ministry of Labor said in its seventh letter in the awareness campaign on labor rights, that the employer shall be punished with a fine of JD500-1000 in the event that he pays the worker a wage less than the minimum wage, delaying payment, or discriminating wages between male and female workers who have equal potentials and are on the same positions, adding the employer in these cases must also pay the wage differences, if found, while the penalty shall be doubled if the violation occurs again.

The ministry added that the employer must abide by the minimum wage of JD260.
The Ministry affirmed that the amount of wages per month may not be less than the minimum wage set in the Kingdom, which currently amounts to JD260 per month, as stipulated in Article (53) of the Jordanian Labor Law.
