The plan includes a series of proactive measures to raise
awareness, strengthen regulations, and conduct thorough inspections, all aimed
at bolstering
food monitoring and traceability systems, the Jordan News Agency,
Petra reported.
The ultimate goal is to safeguard the health and safety of
citizens.
Actions to be implemented
In a statement released on Sunday, JFDA Director-General
Nizar Muhaidat emphasized the strict regulatory actions that will be
implemented. These actions will involve intensified field inspections of all
fast-food establishments, with a particular focus on the
shawarma sector.
Inspections will also include an examination of the sources
of chicken used in shawarma preparation, ensuring compliance with the declared
source as provided by relevant stakeholders.
To further enhance food safety, the JFDA has introduced a
rapid field test designed to detect the presence of albumin protein.
This test will identify any prohibited use of eggs or egg
powder in shawarma fillings, effectively preventing potential health risks
associated with such practices.
Expanding sampling of ready-to-eat shawarma meals
The regulatory plan will also concentrate on intensifying
and expanding the sampling of ready-to-eat shawarma meals to assess their
suitability for human consumption.
Of particular importance is the priority given to detecting
the presence of Salmonella bacteria through collected samples, which will
undergo laboratory tests within a swift 24-hour timeframe.
This comprehensive plan reflects the JFDA's ongoing
commitment to enhancing regulatory procedures and providing steadfast support
in ensuring food safety.
Its implementation is expected to significantly improve the
efficiency of control measures, especially during the summer season when rising
temperatures amplify the importance of guaranteeing the safety and suitability
of fast food for consumption.
